iPhone 4 vs iPhone 4S – What’s the difference?

When looking at the iPhone 4 vs. iPhone 4S, is there really enough of an improvement to justify going out and spending a lot of money trading in your old handset?

Whilst some users keep their mobile phone for its entire two or three-year contract before trading in, others will happily fork out the extra cash, so as not to be without the latest model.

Is it the iPhone 4s worth the extra?

As a consumer it can be quite depressing, buying the latest handset on an expensive contract, or for over $420/£500 on a pay-as-you-go, only to see a new handset appear before you’ve finished unwrapping yours.

Well, you needn’t worry too much and when we compare the compare iphone 4 to iPhone 4s, you’ll see why.

Evenly balanced

As soon as you pick up these two handsets, it soon becomes apparent that there is very little difference in terms of size and weight. Whilst the 4s weighs around 3gms more than its successor, it’s pretty much impossible to feel the difference when you pick them up.

Double the speed? I don’t think so

One of the big selling points with the 4s is that they had replaced the single-core processor that can be found in the 4 with a dual-core processor. What’s more, in benchmarking, the 4s appeared substantially faster than the 4. Sounds impressive?

Well, the reality is, in various speed tests, the difference between the two was negligible.

When it comes to loading games and apps the 4s is quicker, but again, not enough for anyone who owns the 4 to be losing any sleepover.

Smile – Is the camera worth it

One area where the 4s did seem to have a big lead was the camera.

The 4 has a 5-megapixel camera, and whilst the pixels don’t always make a difference, the 8-megapixel camera that comes with the 4s is clearer and shots look a lot more natural.

Video footage is also far improved on the 4s, so if the camera is of real importance, then maybe it’s a deal-breaker. However, anyone who is a serious photographer, won’t be relying on their phone to take pictures anyway.

So what about the Graphics iPhone 4 vs iPhone 4S

Again, there isn’t much difference with graphics when you play games or access various apps, not that I could see anyway.

You can Sleep easy

As you can see, if you’ve been tossing and turning in bed at night wondering how you are going to be able to afford an upgrade from the 4 to the 4s, but you needn’t worry yourself too much.

The reality is Apple only releases new technology in tiny portions, ensuring they always have something new when the next handset comes out.

So, if you do have an iPhone 4 and you are thinking about a trade-in, why not keep your money for the next iPhone or spend it on something which will actually improve your life in some way.
