Unlock Codes For A Sony Ericsson WT19i Walkman

The Sony Ericsson WT19i Walkman is part of the W-series Walkman phones, first released in 2005. They were innovative at the time for combining a portable music player with a cell phone, and included a special W button that accessed the music available on the phone. The connection to music in Europe was enhanced by commercial endorsements from leading male and female pop stars.

A not so innovative feature, however, is that Sony Ericsson SIM locks their phone. The WT19i Walkman is a GSM phone, so when it is unlocked it can work with any GSM network around the world. However, without the mobile phone unlock code, you can only use the phone with the carrier from which you purchased it.

The good news is that unlocking your phone is both simple and legal. All you need is the unlock code for the phone. Unlike most cell phones, to unlock the WT19i Walkman, you don’t even need a SIM card!

Unlocking cell phones with a SIM lock does not void the warranty, since what you’re really doing is restoring the phone to its factory settings. The phone will also remain unlocked even if Sony Ericsson rolls out new software to the phones. Even better, an unlocked phone has a higher resale value.

If you are a customer in good standing with your carrier, it is possible they will give you the mobile phone unlock code for free. Just tell them you’re travelling out of country and want to use your phone with a local carrier in your destination country. They may even unlock the phone for you if you visit their store.

If your carrier is no help with the unlock code for the phone, you will need to purchase the unlock codes from a vendor. You simply provide the vendor with the make and model of your cell phone, along with its IMEI number. They will send you the unlock codes you need for unlocking your phone.

Once you receive the unlock code, simply follow these steps.

1. Power off your phone.

2. Remove your existing SIM card.

3. Power on your phone.

4. Press the left arrow key.

5. Press the * button two times.

6. The phone will say either Personalize with MNC2 or Personalize with MNC3.

7. If the phone says Personalize with MNC2, simply enter the unlock code you were given. If it says Personalize with MNC3, wait a few seconds until the phone shows the word Network with an image of a padlock, press Select, and at the prompt, enter the unlock code you were given.

After successfully unlocking the phone, you will be able to use your WT19i Walkman with any GSM carrier.
