Unlock Codes For A HTC Desire HD

The HTC Desire HD was first sold in late 2010. It contains an amazing amount of multimedia software and hardware, including Dolby sound for watching movies, and the ability to create video and still pictures, add special effects, and then share them online via your social network. It also has the ability to remotely ring the phone at its loudest setting to try and find a lost phone, and a lightning fast start up time of under 5 seconds.

One thing you can’t do with your Desire HD, however, is access whatever GSM network you want to use, at least the way the phone is shipped out of the box. That’s because the phone carriers asked HTC to put a SIM lock on the phones, locking them so that they’ll only work with the carrier that sold the phone to you. Fortunately, unlocking your cell phone is both simple and legal.

To unlock the phone, you’ll need to get the specific unlock mobile phone code that is associated with your unique cell phone. Don’t try to use a code that worked for someone else’s phone, or you may end up permanently locking your phone! Instead, contact your cell phone provider and ask them to give you the unlock codes associated with your IMEI number.

There are a few reasons why your provider might not be able to give you the unlock mobile phone code you need. The codes are only made available by HTC six weeks or so after the phone has been manufactured, so if your phone is fresh off the assembly line, you might need to wait. Also, depending on the terms and conditions of your contract with your provider, you might need to have been using their network for a minimum number of months before they’ll give you a phone unlocking service.

Don’t worry if your provider is no help. Another way to get the unlock codes you’ll need for unlocking your cell phone is to contact a third party phone unlocking service. There are many available online.

In addition to the codes, you’ll need a fresh SIM card from a different cell phone provider. You can buy SIM cards at any cell phone store.

Then simply follow these steps.

1. Power off your phone.

2. Remove your existing SIM card, and replace it with the new SIM card for a carrier other than the one currently providing your cell phone service.

3. Power on your phone.

4. The phone will ask you for a GSM unlock code.

5. Simply enter the unlock code you were given.

That’s it! After you enter the unlock code, you will be able to use your Desire HD with any GSM network provider.
