How to unlock the HTC Thunderbolt

The HTC Thunderbolt has cooked up a storm in the Android and smart phone world, with its infinite entertainment capabilities, surround sound and high resolution 4.3 inch. It also encompasses an 8 megapixel camera with flash and a 720p HD video recorder, one of the highest quality for a phone camera. It can also provide WIFI connectivity for up to 10 devices, and boasts a 1GHz Snapdragon Processor with new 4G network connection.

So it is far from surprising that people are wanting the HTC Thunderbolt by any means necessary, and often people are purchasing it when their contract is not yet up, meaning they must stick with their network service provider. And why wait? So here is a whistleblower’s guide to how to get the HTC Thunderbolt on your network now.

The first and most important key to the mobile unlocking process for any cell phone handset is what is known as an unlock code, a code specially designed by the cell phone manufacturer to remove the network restrictions built in to the handset to make life harder for you if you want to switch network service provider.

This unlock code can be obtained in a number of ways, but the first thing you need to know is the unique IMEI or serial number of your handset. This can be found by typing *#06# into any mobile handset. Once you have this, you can choose the easiest and safest way of obtaining the unlock code which involves contacting your network service provider. Some networks will be kind and offer you the code for free, but in some cases they may ask for an ‘admin fee’ of up to £20.

If you don’t want to pay the admin fee requested by your network service provider, then you could opt to use a mobile unlocking website or independent mobile unlock service (often found on most high streets or in shopping centres) who will often offer the unlock code for a cheaper fee than £20. It is best to be wary of these websites and shops however, as some may enter an incorrect code which could not work or even brick your handset but still take the payment for the service. Check if they provide a money back guarantee before proceeding with them.

Once you have the unlock code, insert an unaccepted sim card into your HTC Thunderbolt handset. Switch is back on and you should then be prompted to enter the unlock code. Once the unlock code has been accepted, your handset may reboot itself, and if it doesn’t then manual rebooting is advised. Once the reboot is complete, your phone should be unlocked. If this is not the case or the unlock code is not accepted, try another code or contact your network service provider.
