So its not surprising that many are wanting to get hold of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on any network. But unfortunately manufacturers place restrictions on cell phones at the request of network service providers to prevent the phone being used on other networks. However, this is simple to change, as all you need is an unlock code and some easy to follow unlocking instructions to remove the restrictions. This would then mean the phone could be used on any network, and would increase the handset’s value!

If you are a long term customer of your network then asking them for the unlock code is the best way to get one. They will often offer it to you for free, and offer to unlock the phone for you if you take it into one of their high street stores.

If your network do not want to help,  then there are various other sources for the unlock code, such as websites and independent mobile unlocking services. You should be wary when choosing a service like this, as many can be scams that simply give you the wrong code and refuse to give you your money back. The best way to find a viable source is to check the mobile unlocking forums for reviewed and trusted sources that people can recommend and vouch for. You will also need to purchase a new SIM card, one that is not provided by the network that the handset is currently locked to.

Once you have the unlock code and SIM card, its time to use them! Insert the new SIM card into the handset, and switch it on. The phone should display a message similar to ‘SIM network unlock PIN’ which is prompting you to enter the unlock code you obtained earlier. Once you have entered the code, the phone should be unlocked! If there are any issues contact your network service provider or the source for your unlock code.
