Palm Pre Plus Unlock Code: Behind The Scenes

The Palm Pre was the first smartphone from Palm that ran on the webOS operating system for mobile phones. Released in 2010, the Palm Pre Plus doubled the memory of the original Pre, while keeping the features that made it Sprint’s fastest-selling phone: a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, camera, WiFi, and GPS. It also functions as a full Personal Information Manager (PIM), the hallmark of the Palm line of devices.

Depending on the country and carrier from which you purchased the phone, it may have a SIM lock on it, which means the phone can only be used with that carrier. If you’re happy with that carrier, why unlock a cell phone? It’s always nice to have the option of being able to use other GSM networks, in case you suddenly need to travel and want to be able to use your phone while you’re away. Additionally, being unlocked raises the resale value of the phone, because more people are able to use it.

Unlocking your cell phone is a simple process of reversing what Palm did when they locked it in the first place. It doesn’t require any downloaded computer code, cables, or other complexities. You simply enter the unlock mobile phone code that is specific to your unique IMEI number. It’s no more difficult than dialing a phone number!

Some people might still be nervous. Why unlock a cell phone if it might hurt the phone? There is absolutely no risk. Unlocking your cell phone does not affect your phone’s warranty, and the phone will remain unlocked even if Palm rolls out an upgrade to the software on the phone.

So, how do you get the unlock mobile phone code? The first method to try is to simply ask your carrier for the unlock code. Provided that you’re a good customer, they’re likely to give you the code for free. Some carriers may even unlock your phone for you if you go into their store! The second method is to buy the code you need from an online vendor.

The other thing you’ll need is a fresh SIM card that isn’t already linked to your carrier then you’re all set.  Simply follow this procedure:

1. Turn off your phone.

2. Take out your existing SIM card and insert the new SIM card.

3. Turn on your phone.

4. The phone will request a network unlock PIN.

5. Enter the unlock code you were provided.

6. The phone will warn you that you can only make emergency calls, and ask for the network unlock PIN again. Don’t bother trying to enter it again – no matter what you enter the phone will say it’s an invalid PIN.

7. Turn off the phone, remove the battery, reinsert the battery, and turn on the phone.

Your Palm Pre Plus is now unlocked, and can be used with your choice of GSM networks.
