Unlock Sony Ericsson K800i: An Expert’s Advice

Have you reached the end of the road with your current provider and want to Unlock Sony Ericsson K800i? The Sony Ericsson K800i is the international version of the K800 smartphone first released in 2006. The K800i was the first smartphone to incorporate the Sony Cyber Shot technology, so instead of simply taking a blurry cell phone picture, you could take a picture that used image stabilization, as well as other features from the standalone camera such as red eye reduction, and settings to maximize color in night photography and contrast in document photography.

The K800i can be used on either GSM or UMTS networks (although the UMTS drains the battery about three times as quickly). They will usually look up an unlock code for a phone for free, their only conditions being that you are an active customer with a fully current account, you’ve been a customer of theirs with this phone for a period of at least three to twelve months, and you haven’t already asked them to look up an unlock code for a phone in the past year.

So, how do I Unlock Sony Ericsson K800i?

Depending on the carrier you use, you may be able to bring your phone into their physical store, and get the phone unlocking service from them in person. Usually, though, they will ask you to call a special service number or visit a specific website in order to provide the information about your phone. You will need to give them your phone’s IMEI number to identify your unique phone. This number can often be found on a sticker inside the phone’s battery compartment, or from a selection on your phone’s menu. (If you can’t find it in the menu, you can have your phone give you the IMEI number by entering the following characters, as if you were placing a call: *#06#)

You can also have an online phone unlocking service look up your unlock code for you, but they will charge you for the service.

To unlock your K800i, simply follow these steps.

1. Power off your phone.

2. Take out your existing SIM card.

3. Power on your phone.

4. Press the left arrow key.

5. Press the * key twice.

6. Press the left arrow key.

7. The phone will request a personalization code. Enter the unlock code you received.

That’s all there is to unlocking your K800i phone. You’ll need to put a SIM card back in before making calls, but you can now use a SIM card that is associated with any GSM network in the world.
